A London Midland & Scottish Railway poster promoting travel to the city of Perth in central Scotland. It has been known as ‘The Fair City’ since 1828 and given its location, Perth was perfectly placed to become a key transport centre with the coming of the railways. The first station was built in 1848. A prime hillside viewpoint has been chosen by the artist which captures the spectacular landscape of this area. Perth Bridge, (Smeaton’s Bridge) spanning the River Tay is highlighted along with neighbouring St Matthew’s church. 1923-1947. Artwork by W M Frazer.
