The Coronation Scot, Ascending Shap Fell Travel Railway Art Poster Print by Norman Wilkinson and LMS

Travel poster produced for the London, Midland & Scottish Railway (LMS) to promote rail travel between London and Glasgow. The poster shows the ‘Coronation Scot’ steam locomotive travelling through the Cumbria countryside, with mountains in the background. The Coronation Scot travelled between London's Euston Station and Glasgow Central Station, with a journey time of six and a half hours, and in 1937 during test runs, broke a British railway record achieving a maximum speed of 114 miles per hour. Artwork by Norman Wilkinson (1878-1971), who studied art at Portsmouth and Southsea Schools of Art. A famous marine painter, he designed posters for several different rail companies.

This Poster dates to 1937.

This is truly an outstanding quality print.  It is printed on excellent quality Fujitsu photographic paper.  It is not a cheap flimsy poster.
