Vintage Travel poster produced for the Caledonian Railway, promoting rail travel to the village of Bridge of Allan. Visitors could take advantage of its golf, tennis, bowling, fishing and mineral wells. In the distance the National Wallace Monument is seen at the top of Allan Craig, commemorating Scotland's great freedom fighter, Sir William Wallace (c 1274-1305). The Caledonian Railway was founded in 1845 and three years later established the first through service between London and Scotland.
