Clear Road Ahead, Monmouth Castle. BR Vintage Travel Poster by Terence Cuneo. 1949

Product code: S-800

Product information

Poster produced for British Railways (BR) in 1949 showing a detailed illustration of steam locomotive No 5037 ‘Monmouth Castle’ in transit along the clear track ahead. The driver is busy at the controls whilst the other is hard at work shovelling coal into the firebox. Artwork by Terence Cuneo, son of the artists Cyrus and Nell Cuneo. He studied at the Chelsea and Slade Art Schools and in addition to a long career designing railway posters, he also painted portraits, ceremonial and military subjects.

This is truly an outstanding quality poster. It is printed on Fuji crystal archive photographic paper and is by no means a flimsy poster.
