Product Description

This elegant travel poster was originally produced for the London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) between 1923 and 1947 to promote rail travel to the historic city of Durham. The artwork features the majestic Durham Cathedral rising above the city, a landmark celebrated for its architectural grandeur and spiritual significance.

The poster was designed by renowned British artist Fred Taylor (18751963), whose career included commissions for major institutions such as Lloyds of London, where he created ceiling paintings for the Underwriting Room in 1930, and murals for Reeds Lacquer Room. Taylor exhibited at the Royal Academy and other London galleries, and produced poster art for LNER, London Transport, and several shipping companies. His work is admired for its bold composition and ability to capture the character of Britains landmarks.

This product is a highquality reproduction of the original poster, preserving the vibrant colours and timeless appeal of Taylors design. It is both a celebration of Durhams heritage and a fine example of classic railway advertising from the golden age of travel.
