Product code: S-383

Product information

Poster produced in 1948 for British Railways (BR) to promote rail travel to the coastal resort of Scarborough in Yorkshire. The artist has chosen Frank Cliff as his viewpoint and looking north towards Scarborough it shows a spectacular view of this beautiful part of the North Yorkshire coastline. The beach, town and headland with Scarborough Castle can be seen in the foreground with North Bay and the Beast Cliff in the distance. Artwork by Frank Henry Mason (1876-1965), who was educated at HMS Conway and spent time at sea. He painted marine and coastal subjects and was involved in engineering and shipbuilding. He designed posters for several railway companies.

This is truly an outstanding quality poster. It is printed on Fuji crystal archive photographic paper and is by no means a flimsy poster.
