The Heysham Ferry T.S.S. Duke Lancaster which sailed between Heysham and Belfast in the 50's and 60's was a popular tourist British rail ferry. Claude Buckle painted this ferry at least four times producing two carriage prints and two railway posters.

This poster was brought out by the British Railway Company to promote travel to Belfast and Northern Ireland. The picture shows the Heysham boat in the Irish sea on a calm night at moonlight. The moonlight is highlighting the ferry. The way that the artist has painted the moonlight shining on the sea is beautiful and has to be seen in large to really do this poster justice! The age of the original poster dates to 1950 approximately.
