Railway poster produced in 1955 for British Railways (BR), Southern Region (SR), showing the East Sussex County Town of Lewes. A man is pushing a scissor-grinding machine along a charmingly quaint and colourful street. Artwork by Terence Cuneo (1907-1996), son of the artists Cyrus and Nell Cuneo. He studied at the Chelsea and Slade Art Schools and in addition to a long career designing railway posters, he also painted portraits (including royal portraits) and ceremonial and military subjects.
This is truly an outstanding quality poster. It is printed on Fuji crystal archive photographic paper and is by no means a flimsy poster.
