Saltburn, The Cat Nab, Yorkshire. LNER Vintage Travel Poster by Frank Henry Mason

Product code: S-789

Product information

Poster produced for London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) to promote rail travel to Saltburn-by-the-Sea, Redcar & Cleveland, Yorkshire. Saltburn was the centre of local sea smugglers and the artist has chosen the ‘Cat Nab’ as his viewpoint. The illustration shows a long stretch of the sandy beach with cottages in the foreground. Part of Saltburn Pier can also be seen and the famous Zetland Hotel sits proudly on the hilltop flying its flag. The artist  Frank Henry Mason (1876-1965), was educated at HMS Conway and spent time at sea. He painted marine and coastal subjects and was involved in engineering, ship building and also designed posters for several railway companies.

This is truly an outstanding quality poster. It is printed on Fuji crystal archive photographic paper and is by no means a flimsy poster.
