Scarborough Town, Yorkshire. BR Vintage Travel Poster by Gyrth Russell. 1950

Product code: S-319

Product information

Travel Poster produced in 1950 for British Railways (BR) to promote rail travel to Scarborough in Yorkshire. The poster shows a rooftop view of the seafront town and harbour from the headland which is just below the dominant position of Scarborough Castle. If you follow the sandy coastline, the Grand Hotel and Scarborough Spa can be seen and high up in the background hills is Oliver's Mount, a tribute monument to the war dead. Artwork by Gyrth Russell (1892-1970).

This is truly an outstanding quality poster. It is printed on Fuji crystal archive photographic paper and is by no means a flimsy poster.
