Service to Industry, Billingham. BR Vintage Travel Poster by Terence Cuneo

Product code: S-785

Product information

Vintage poster produced for British Railways (BR) in 1962 to advertise the company's services to industry. The poster shows steam and diesel trains arriving and departing at South Grid sidings on the Imperial Chemical Industries site at Billingham, near Stockton-on-Tees. (ICI chemical works). It describes how ICI relied on British Railways each year to deliver nearly 2 million tons of coal and 150,000 tons of other commodities to its chemical works at Billingham. BR was also responsible for transporting three quarters of a million tons of other products dispatched from the works. Artwork by Terence Cuneo, who studied at the Chelsea and Slade Art Schools. In addition to a long career designing railway posters, he also painted portraits (including royal portraits) and ceremonial and military subjects.

This is truly an outstanding quality poster. It is printed on Fuji crystal archive photographic paper and is by no means a flimsy poster.
