Vintage poster promoting the Great Barrier Reef as a tourist destination showing three black striped cream fish with yellow fins swimming amongst two types of coral, one red the other cream brown. One fish is central and oversized. Includes a sea snail. Small detailed title ‘Longspined Butterfly-fish & Heron Island Volute’. Artist Eileen Mayo (1906-1994) was born in Norwich, England. She studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, London, Central School of Arts and Crafts, London and Chelsea Polytechnic, London and also studied under Ferdinand Léger in Paris. In 1953 she travelled to Australia and then to New Zealand. She is best known for her animal prints which displayed a careful observation and a lively eye for detail. She was created a Dame of the British Empire in the 1994 New Year's Honours List.

This is truly an outstanding quality poster. It is printed on Fuji crystal archive photographic paper and is by no means a flimsy poster.
