Vintage poster produced for British Railways (BR) showing a Permanent Way gang hard at work on the night shift. These railway construction workers are carefully manoeuvring new sleepers and track rails into position at Wandsworth Common Station. They are aided by a track laying train with special mechanised lifting equipment. c1950. Artwork by Terence Cuneo, who studied at the Chelsea and Slade Art Schools. In addition to a long career designing railway posters, he also painted portraits (including royal portraits) and ceremonial and military subjects.
This is truly an outstanding quality poster. It is printed on Fuji crystal archive photographic paper and is by no means a flimsy poster.
