Vintage poster produced for the London, Midland & Scottish Railway (LMS) as part of a series of posters commisioned from members of the Royal Academy. The series was the idea of the poster artist Norman Wilkinson, who sought to raise the status of the poster by combining commercial art with high art. This poster was the most popular one of the series. Artwork by Maurice Greiffenhagen, who was Danish by descent and studied at University College School and the Royal Academy Schools. He worked for the 'Ladies Pictorial' and the 'Daily Chronicle' and taught at the Glasgow School of Art. He exhibited in Munich, Dresden and Ghent.
