Product Description
Travel poster produced for British Railways (BR) promoting London as a place to visit in the year of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation. The poster shows a procession of the Queen's Guard on horseback, leaving Buckingham Palace (which is shown in the background along with the Queen Victoria Monument) to travel down The Mall. 1953. Artwork by Gordon Nicoll, who studied at Southampton Art School and at Hornsey under Frank Hillyard Swinstead. He was a member of the London Sketch Club. A landscape painter in watercolour and oil, he designed posters for the London North & Eastern Railway (LNER), including a memorable series on railway hotels. This is truly an outstanding quality poster. It is printed on Fuji crystal archive photographic paper and is by no means a flimsy poster. Please select your size from the drop down menu. Any poster size of 70x100cm or smaller will fit many popular frames that can be purchased in framers and shops such as Ikea.
