Product Description
This classic vintage Land Speed poster is one of our set of four and advertises Wakefield Castrol Motor Oil. Born in America in 1896, Major H.O.D. Segrave was the first person to travel at over 200mph in a land vehicle and died tragically in 1930 on Lake Windermere attempting the water speed record. This poster tells us that on the 29th March 1927 he broke the Land Speed record by attaining 207mph. There is some confusion over this as other records claim it was 203.79mph however thats what the poster says! It shows him in his red 1000HP Sunbeam called ‘Mystery’ travelling at high speed on Daytona Beach, Florida. Artwork by N F Humphries.
This is truly an outstanding quality poster. It is printed on Fuji crystal archive photographic paper and is by no means a flimsy poster.
