This North Eastern Railway (NER) travel poster of Whitley Bay in Northumberland was produced somewhere between 1910 and 1922. Whitley Bay was once a favourite summer holiday destination for generations of people in the North East and this north facing aerial view shows the town and coastline stretching as far as St Mary’s Lighthouse. Hundreds of holiday makers are strolling along the promenade and Links whilst many are enjoying the three miles of clean, safe, sandy beach. In the foreground is the entrance to the corkscrew stairs and further along the seafront stands the iconic Dome of Spanish City, a well known landmark. Artist unknown.

This is truly an outstanding quality poster. It is printed on Fuji crystal archive photographic paper and is by no means a flimsy poster.
