Whitley Bay, Tyne & Wear. British Railways Vintage Travel Poster by Arthur C Michael

Product code: S-227

Product information

English Travel Poster produced for British Railways (BR) between 1948-1965 to promote rail travel to Whitley Bay in Tyne and Wear. The poster shows a young woman in a green bikini delighted with her find, a starfish. Behind her many people can be seen on the sandy beach enjoying the sunny day and St Marys Lighthouse can also be seen. Artwork by Arthur C Michael, a painter and etcher who worked mainly in watercolour. He illustrated books and periodicals and also designed posters for London & North Eastern Railway (LNER).

This is truly an outstanding quality poster. It is printed on Fuji crystal archive photographic paper and is by no means a flimsy poster.
