Product information

Vintage travel poster produced in 1939 by London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) to promote rail services to Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear. Illustrated is a man and woman in a red dress sitting on the promenade wall looking out over the seaside while people are having fun on the sandy beach. St Marys Lighthouse can be seen in the distance. Artwork by Frank Newbould (1887-1951), who studied at Bradford College of Art and joined the War Office in 1942. He also designed posters for the GWR (Great Western Railway), Orient Line and Belgian Railways.

This is truly an outstanding quality poster. It is printed on Fuji crystal archive photographic paper and is by no means a flimsy poster.
